Rental Terms

PRICE
Price full insurance with excess & 24hours customer/road service, Sales Tax.

CARS & AVAILABILITY
Especially during low availability periods and if for any important reason we cannot rent to you the car you have booked, you will receive another model from the exact same category or a car from a bigger category at the price agreed initially.

OUTSIDE CRETE
Transporting the car to and from any other island or the mainland is not permitted. All insurances will be rejected and the renter will be responsible for any damage caused, if the vehicle is driven elsewhere than on the Cretan Island. Written permission by our firm is mandatory for any renter who wishes to use ferries and transporting the rental car to another island.

FINES
Any traffic tickets and fines which are received during the renting period are the responsibility of the renter. The car hire company should be informed about any such traffic violation or tickets.

FUEL
The customer pays for the fuel consumed in the car. He must return the car with fuel filled up in the tank at the exact same level which he/she received at the beginning of the rental. If the car returns with less fuel, the customer must pay at once the fuel missing. There is no refund when the car returns with more fuel.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE
If an accident occurs you must inform the authorities and a police report must be made. You must also immediately alert the rental company. If the police don’t carry out a report, then the renter is fully accountable for the repairs to the car. This report eliminates any responsibility for the renter. Do not make any repairs which are unauthorized to the rental car.

ALCOHOL & DRUGS
For neglectful or drunken driving, driving while intoxicated with illegal substances, prohibited countries/areas, evident disregarding actions to the car, the renter is fully accountable for all charges.

KEY LOSS
In case of loss or damage of the keys, you will have to pay 100€- 200€ for their replacement, depending on their type.

PICKUP & DROP OFF LOCATIONS
This is free to most of our locations listed on our online system. For delivery to certain places, there is a small extra cost. Please contact us for more information.

LATE CAR RETURN
You must return the rented car at the designated place and on the date and time stated on the rental contract. The first-hour delay in return is not charged as long as our company is informed, otherwise an amount will be topped up/charged to your final price (next 3 hours are charged at €10 per hour).

THE DRIVER
The age requirement for renting a car is 19 years old and the existence of a valid driving license for the minimum period of 1 year prior to renting.
If the renter doesn’t have a European driving License or a driving license in another language besides Greek or English, then an International license must be presented.

ROOF RACKS
Please have in mind that the roof racks we provide for free are only available for specific car types. The customer must inform on his request about the special kind of luggage he will carry along, its weight, size, etc. Any damage on the car caused by the use of a roof rack or its load will not be covered by the insurance.

CHILDREN
We recommend that children and young people under the age of 18 should obtain permission from their parents before sending personal information to website sterlingrental.gr.

ADDITIONAL DRIVERS
Additional drivers are extra of charge, but you must inform the car hire agency of the name of the second driver or additional drivers and this should appear on the car rental contract.

Cars Deposits
